Citing sources, the Associated Press reported today (17th) that "Tucker agreed to a one-year contract with the Cubs on the condition of $16.5 million."

Initially, the Cubs offered $15 million, Tucker demanded $17.5 million, and if the agreement failed, the MLB Secretariat's salary adjustment committee had to decide.

Tucker, who made his big league debut with Houston in 2018, took off as a key outfielder in 2021 and then played as a batter representing MLB.

In 2022, he hit .257 with 30 homers and 107 RBIs to help Houston win the World Series, and in 2023 he hit .284 with 29 homers and 112 RBIs to become the American League RBI king.

Last season, he was selected as an All-Star with a batting average of 0.289, 23 home runs, and 49 RBIs despite only playing 78 games due to a broken shin.

The Houston club has been sending Tucker, who will be eligible for the FA, to the Cubs and receiving three players at the end of this season.
